In early December a San Francisco based Macy's Santa was fired for telling jokes deemed inappropriate by one woman. John Toomey, who has served as the local Santa for over 20 years, was fired not for telling naughty jokes to children, but for sharing mild innuendo with adults. It was comments such as "When I ask the older people who sit on my lap if they've been good and they say, 'Yes,' I say, 'Gee, that's too bad,'" and "Then, if they ask why Santa is so jolly, I joke that it's because I know where all the naughty boys and girls live" that cost him his job.
