Fashion as any art form is propelled by perpetual evolution. Sex is often the catalyst of this creative momentum. The last few seasons two models, Andrej Pejic and Lea T., are using the arena of fashion to show and celebrate the spectrum of gender representation that exists in the world. Pejic was born male, but often appears in women's clothing for fashion campaigns such as Jean-Paul Gaultier and is the new face of Marc Jacobs. Some say that he is a part of a new era of the "femiman" in fashion.

Model Lea T., born Leandro Cerezo Medeiros, identifies as transsexual. Beginning as a fashion stylist, Lea T. is now a tremendously sought after model, a favorite of Givenchy. Lea T. has been quoted by The Frisky as saying, “I’ve never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend ... Even with surgery, I’ll never be a woman. And I will not be man. I’ll always be the middle… My father said I’ll always be his little black boy. That he’ll love me if I am man, woman or dog. My mother is very religious. She refuses, but says she will not leave me.” Lea T. will appear on Oprah this month.
