For some, blood is one of the most sensual aspects of our physical bodies. Some even believe our blood type can determine aspects of our personality and even compatibility. In Japan, condoms are even sold according to blood type. Within Japan the history of a "theory of blood type" has been investigated, while not always purely or in a rigorously academic manner since the mid 1920s. In 1927 "The Study of Temperament Through Blood Type," by Takeji Furukawa was one of the first pieces officially written on the topic. At the time it was an extension of beliefs of racial superiority based on blood type, and was used as a means to explain why the "rebellious O-Type Taiwanese rebelled against them. Some of these theories were also used during the Nazi regime. The topic did not gain attention again until the 1970 when publications by Masahiko Nomi were released. However, blood type condoms are readily available in vending machines throughout Japan today.
Is is believed blood type correlated to personality in the following way: Type As are peaceful but high-strung, Type Bs are caring but selfish, Type ABs are rational but indecisive, and Type Os are sociable and honest but dislike authority. Rh has no role in the Japanese theory.
So with this pre-existing idea about blood type and the recent deluge of sexy vampires in film, television and literature, is it any wonder a line of fragrances called Blood Concept has been released. "Blood Concept is a collection of four whiffs - A, B, AB and O.While A includes a hint of green garden, tomato leaves, basil and star anise, O is composed of thyme, raspberry, cyperus esculentus, rose hips, leather, birch and cedar wood.B is said to be more woody and spicy, with touches of red apple, black cherry, artemisia, pepper, pomegranate and black tea, while AB is made from aldehydes, aluminium, slate, pebble, aqua, and cedar wood."
