Every year the Adult Entertainment Expo takes place in Las Vegas, magically the same weekend as CES, the worlds largest consumer technology trade show also hits "sin city." This inherent connection between sex and advancements in technology is a theory the Museum of Sex has been applying to its exhibitions for a long time. At this year's AEE, the talented journalist Damon Brown also the author of Porn & Pong; How Grand Theft Auto, Tomb raider and other Sexy Games Changed Our Culture shared the stage with Steven Hirsch, founder of Vivid Entertainment, for the events keynote speech. Speaking about the future of the adult industry issues such as "piracy, a devastated economy and major shifts in technology" all garnered attention. While technological advancements such as 3D films and televisions are becoming more mainstream, Hirsch believes 3D porn still has a way to go. “People like to take their glasses off when they watch adult. When it gets to the point of being able to see 3D without glasses, it will take off, which I see as about seven years out.” says Hirsch.

This same weekend the 28th annual AVN "Oscars of Porn" Awards were held in Las Vegas. In 2007, the book Naked Ambition: An R Rated Look at the X rated Industry, which featured photography documenting the artifacts and actors of the AVN Awards by celebrity photographer Michael Grecco was released. In 2009, I created an exhibition based on the portraiture and video footage of this incredible project, which aimed to capture as much as possible in the three hectic days of the Adult Entertainment Expo and the glitter of the AVN Award Ceremony.

In addition to new insights on porn, a whole new season of beautifully designed sex toys have hit the market from Lelo, Ono, Laid and Ultrazone. Read more at: http://www.switched.com/2011/01/11/best-design-vibrators-2011-aee/

Are Japanese Men Losing Interest in Sex?

Based on recent studies conducted by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare 35.1% of Japanese men 16 to 19 are either disinterested by sex or actively adverse to it and that 40.8% of marriages in Japan are officially sexless, defined as not having sex for over a month. These figures which have noticeably increased since last year are alarming for Japan's population rate, which has a current birth rate of 1.21 per family when a rate of 2.08 is needed to keep the population stable. Japan is actively trying to encourage it's population to have more sex and have more babies for the future of the nation.

Facebook Used to Catch Child Sex Offenders

Twenty Four year old, Leroy Stephanson is being charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl beginning when she was 15 last year and for the creation of child pornography, after her mother saw pictures of the couple having sex on Facebook. In San Francisco, twenty year old Jeanette Aragona created Facebook pages for fictitious boys called "AJ", "BJ" and "Matthew." She then used these pages to contact eight middle school girls to engage in sexually explicit conversations and arrange in person meetings, at which time she would identify herself as one of the boy's aunts. She will be charged with two counts of misdemeanor child endangerment, will serve nine months in jail and will be registered as a sex offender.
