Tuesday night I spoke at an event called Dark Design for AIGA, one of the largest organizations for creative minds since 1914. Held at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, I was joined in my conversation about subversive design with a master taxidermist, an animator and an artist working on several projects involving sexual content, including a film created by Matt Lambert called Fickmaschinen or "F*cking Machines" in English. While its title lends itself to the type of machines created in basements and garages around the US, as featured in the photography of Timothy Archibald, the film more abstractly contemplates humans as themselves "f*cking machines".
